Lorenzo Pellegrini says “there’s still nothing settled” with Roma and notes “the clause expires on June 30”.

The Giallorossi sold the midfielder to Sassuolo in 2015, but retained a buyback clause allowing them to buy him back for €10m.

That has to be activated by the end of this month, and with Financial Fair Play targets to meet, the Lupi can’t do that until the sales of Mohamed Salah and Kostas Manolas go through.

That has to be activated by the end of this month, and with Financial Fair Play targets to meet, the Lupi can’t do that until the sales of Mohamed Salah and Kostas Manolas go through.

“There’s still nothing settled,” Pellegrini said in a Press conference from the Italy Under-21 camp today.

“I’ve heard from my agent and he told me they were talking, but I don’t want to think about it right now.

“I know the clause Rome can exercise expires on June 30, so if we go through with Italy then we’ll have to settle things here. I’d sign up for that right now though, as it would mean going through the group.

“For now though I’ve told my agent not to let me know anything, then we’ll see.

“We have to do our jobs, but sometimes it’s not easy to get away from the rumours or to always read your name.

“Now though I’m thinking of the Euros, everything else comes after.”
