According to reports in Italy, the midfielder is in talks to extend his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Roma have an ambitious project because I had the chance to talk to Friedkin, Pinto and Fienga,” Pellegrini said at a press conference ahead of Roma’s Europa League meeting with Shakhtar.

“I got to understand the ambition they have, and this is something that makes me very happy. I feel part of a project that wants to grow.

“I am a footballer who comes to the field every day with the idea of improving. Everyone is ambitious. The club, the coach and his staff. I am happy to feel their trust,” he added.

What game does he expect tomorrow?

“We know that we face a great team that comes down from the Champions League and we must have all the attention of the case.

“We’ll play our game, what we’ve prepared and what we think we’re best at doing.”

Is he concerned about the recent criticism?

“My only concern is continually improving on the field to feel okay with myself and others,” he commented.

“Sometimes we’ve created problems for ourselves, it’s not a problem of playing style because we take care of every detail.

“We hardly concede goals if we don’t create trouble for ourselves. If we want to stay top, we must work and be aware there is little space for individual mistakes.”
