Lorenzo Pellegrini had a very eventful 11-minute cameo in the Europa League match against Servette, as he provided an assist, scored and then limped off with yet another Roma injury.

The midfielder came on to replace Houssem Aouar at half-time with the Giallorossi leading their Swiss opponents 1-0 thanks to a deflected Romelu Lukaku goal.

He made an immediate impact, as within 30 seconds of his introduction, he had flicked on a header for Andrea Belotti to score.

Pellegrini then bagged the third goal himself on the half-volley from a Zeki Celik knockback on the Stephan El Shaarawy cross.

However, the midfielder then pulled up with what Sky Sport Italia report is a suspected flexor issue and left the field, just 11 minutes into his night.

Opta point out that Pellegrini is the first Roma player to both score and provide an assist as a substitute in a major European competition since David Pizarro against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in September 2006.

Curiously, Pizarro was in the stands at the Stadio Olimpico for this evening’s game too.
