Lorenzo Pellegrini’s agent Giampiero Pocetta met Roma director Tiago Pinto today, beginning negotiations to extend the midfielder’s contract.

Pellegrini sees his current deal expire in June 2022 and according to several reports in Italy and the UK, Tottenham are interested in securing his services.

The Italian midfielder has a €30m release clause included in his contract, which expires in nine days.

The Giallorossi want to cancel the release clause and offer Pellegrini a pay rise.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the player’s agent met Tiago Pinto at Trigoria today. It was the first time they met as the Portuguese director was appointed in January.

Roma youngsters Nicola Zalewski and Riccardo Ciervo are also among Pocetta’s clients and the agent wanted to know more about the club’s plans for their future.

The two parties are also believed to have begun negotiations for Pellegrini’s contract extension.

The former Sassuolo man was part of Italy’s EURO 2020 squad but sustained a muscle injury only a few days before the beginning of the tournament and was replaced by Gaetano Castrovilli.
