The 35-year-old has returned to the Gialloblu after stints at Feyenoord, Southampton and Shandong Luneng.

“I kept myself ready, I worked a lot after the championship,” Pellè said at a press conference. “I hope to do well, without any excuses.

“China was the best choice I could have made, a professional gives his best wherever he is and I had the maturity to respect a League below European standards.

“The training sessions were intense, I had [Felix] Magath as coach, a kind of [Zdenek] Zeman, and I always gave my all.”

Parma are 19th in Serie A, three points behind safety and Pellè vowed to fight to ‘turn things around’ with the Gialloblu.

“I’m positive for the season, the position is difficult, but we don’t have to feel sorry for ourselves,” he said. “We will try to turn things around and I’m a guy who likes pressure.”

He revealed the Ducali convinced him the most, as he had other options after the contract with Shangong Luneng expired.

“I had several calls to resume after China, but Parma showed me more desire, not need,” he said. “I had unfinished business here and I’m proud, I think I have to give more to this place.”

Pellè scored two goals in 14 games with the Crociati during his last stint at the Ennio Tardini.
