Pele seems to have accepted Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his scoring record and congratulated the Juventus hitman.

There has been a great deal of debate over what exactly the record is for the most competitive goals scored.

While Pele had claimed the record at over 1,000, some said that Josef Bican should be credited on 805 rather than the ‘official’ 759.

It seems as if Pele has finally acknowledged Ronaldo following today’s hat-trick as Juventus beat Cagliari 3-1.

“Cristiano, life is a solo flight. Each makes his own journey. And what a beautiful journey you are having!” wrote Pele on Instagram.

“I admire you a lot, I love watching you play and this is no secret to anyone.

“Congratulations on breaking my record of goals in official matches. My only regret is not being able to give you a hug today.

“But I leave this photo in your honor, with great affection, as the symbol of a friendship that has existed for many years.”
