Pedro maintains Lazio are ‘on the right track’ after beating Inter 3-1 and admits Maurizio Sarri has some tactical similarities with Pep Guardiola.

The Nerazzurri hadn’t lost this early into the Serie A season since the opening round defeat under Luciano Spalletti against Sassuolo in 2018-19.

Lautaro Martinez had cancelled out the Felipe Anderson free header, but substitutes Luis Alberto and Pedro scored two fantastic goals to secure a deserved 3-1 Lazio victory at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I am very happy for this victory and the work from the whole team was incredible,” Pedro told DAZN.

“It’s always nice to score a goal and help the side. We can fight it out with anyone and playing like this we are on the right track.”

Director of sport Igli Tare said before the match that the target for Lazio this season was to secure a Champions League place.

“Of course we can do it, there’s a long path ahead of us, but we are on the right track,” added Pedro.

The Spain international veteran was asked if Sarri reminded him of Guardiola in his tactical approach.

“In a certain way, he too always wants us to have the ball, press high and keep possession. In that sense, he is very similar to Guardiola. Sarri has his ideas, the team has understood them, we need to keep believing in those ideas and continue playing like this.”
