Pedro regrets the way Lazio conceded the two FC Porto goals, but believes they can turn it around in the Europa League play-off.

The Biancocelesti had gone in front through Mattia Zaccagni on a well-worked corner routine, but Toni Martinez scored twice for the comeback win.

“We had a good first half, we kept the ball for long periods and created chances, but Porto’s equaliser was a real blow for us,” Pedro told Sky Sport Italia.

“Once again, a cross from the right and we conceded the second, which made it even tougher. The tie is open, though, and anything can happen in the second leg.”

Away goals no longer count double on aggregate, so the 2-1 away result is not as positive as it would’ve been last season.

Porto dropped down into the Europa League play-off from the Champions League, so it was a very tough draw for Lazio.

It was made even more difficult by making this trip without Ciro Immobile, who is suffering from a fever.

“We played well here and that is not easy in a difficult atmosphere against a strong opponent. We showed character here this evening, kept the ball well and I think we can turn it around in front of our fans at the Olimpico,” added Pedro.

“We have understood the ideas of the coach now, we just need to do better in front of goal and I think we can do it.”
