Fabio Pecchia has assumed responsibility for Verona’s 5-0 home hammering by Fiorentina.
The Scaligeri were three goals down after just 25 minutes as Stefano Pioli’s team inflicted a painful defeat on the Stadio Bentegodi club.
“It was a horrible performance,” Pecchia admitted of his newly-promoted team’s display. “Fiorentina played very silkily.
“I take the responsibility for what was a very bad day.”

Pecchia stressed that his team would be able to respond to this setback in the same way they overcame problems to secure promotion last season.
“I have already been at Verona for 10 months. I know the environment and there was disapproval among our fans.
“Last year we had problems too but we overcame them.”
