Fabio Pecchia was disappointed with Verona’s attitude in their 5-0 home thrashing by Atalanta this afternoon.
The Scaligeri had won their last two matches heading into today’s encounter at the Stadio Bentegodi, reviving their hopes of avoiding relegation.
However, they were brought back down to earth with a crushing defeat against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Europa League chasers.
“I am focusing on the match my team played,” Pecchia said at his post-match Press conference.
“A performance like that goes to show what can happen if the attitude isn’t at the maximum.
“Today’s opposition showed themselves to be clearly superior.
“After the early advantage we never managed to get into the game. We need to look forward and think about the coming matches.”
Pecchia believes the international break comes at a good time for his players.
“The break will mean we can bring back some players and recharge the batteries ahead of the final run-in.
“Today the match started badly and finished worse.
“We need to prepare for the next matches in a different way in order to try to get out of this difficult situation.”
