Former Milan striker Pierino Prati believes Giampaolo Pazzini would be a better option for Filippo Inzaghi’s Rossoneri than Fernando Torres.

Spanish striker Torres signed for Milan in the summer on a two-year loan deal after a difficult spell with Chelsea.

The World Cup winner has struggled for game time, but is expected to start against Cagliari tonight after an apparent intervention by club President Silvio Berlusconi.

Prati, who played 143 times for the Rossoneri and netted 72 times, does not believe the former Liverpool man suits Inzaghi’s style of play, and would prefer to see Pazzini given a more prominent role.

“Torres is having problems settling in,” was the analysis Prati gave to Tuttomercatoweb.

“I think, on paper, for the way Inzaghi plays, Pazzini would be better than Torres.

“I’d have to see what happens on the training ground to be able to give reasons for Inzaghi’s choices.

“It’s good for a Coach to have competition as it means there are many options he can choose from.

“However, Pazzini is not a kid, and he can’t wait any longer.

“This coaching team is in danger of penalising him too much.

“He’s just coming back after a few problems, now it’s time for him to start working with the squad and with the first team.

“He’s ready to fit in to the game Milan play, his attributes wouldn’t be a bad thing for them to have.

“The team attacks down the two flanks, one of the things he [Pazzini] would be suited to.

“He’d be perfect for attacking crosses.”
