According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan could offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new €2m-a-year deal and the chance to become club director at the end of his playing career.
The 40-year-old sees his €7m-a-year deal expire at the end of the season, but is not considering retiring, especially if Sweden qualify for the Qatar 2022. Ibrahimovic has been called up for the World Cup play-offs and may only consider quitting if his national team fail to qualify for the World Cup. He is suspended for tonight’s match against Czech Republic.
Ibra revealed earlier this week that he feels a ‘sense of panic’ when he thinks about retiring.
Both the player and the club are happy to continue together, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan will offer him a lower salary, probably in the region of €2m even if, the report specifies, it is ‘still too early to talk about figures’ as they two parties still need to sit down to discuss the future.
Milan and Ibrahimovic’s path together could also continue beyond the striker’s career as a footballer, given that the Rossoneri may offer him a role in the club’s control room, where he’d join Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. Ibrahimovic has scored eight goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season, missing 15 matches due to injuries.

Even if he doesn’t play a single minute at all next season, I think most of us wouldn’t mind having him around at the cost of 2M. If you notice/read most of interviews done on various Milan players, it’s hard not to hear them mention Ibra in glowing light.
Agree completely Bunga2. The director part is a bit out of the blue but good to see us emulating what the likes of Bayern do. Certainly he should be doing some coaching work with the attacking players next season.
I like the sound of this. IBRA influence in his 2nd stint at Milan is there for all to see. In his 1st stint it was all about his goals and playing along side establised world stars but his current impact has been more about the mentality he has instilled in this young group of players. This mentality was what was missing before. So with that in mind “Sign him Up!”
