Cagliari forward Leonardo Pavoletti was "proud" to reveal that he will be back “in a month or so” after five months out with a knee injury.

The forward scored 16 goals in 32 games for the Rossoblu last season, but this term he only lasted for 45 minutes in Serie A after limping off with a knee problem against Brescia in the opener.

Tests showed he had damaged the anterior cruciate ligament as well as the external meniscus and he has been out since.

Tests showed he had damaged the anterior cruciate ligament as well as the external meniscus and he has been out since.

Now, he has revealed that he is closing in on his return to the pitch for Cagliari.

“The knee works now,” he told the reporters at the International Job Meeting. “In a month or so, maybe a month and a half, I should be with the team again.

“I am proud that I’m able to return, I see light at the end of the tunnel.”

He also addressed the rough patch his side have been going through, as the Rossoblu have recently been through a winless run of eight games across all tournaments.

“We’ve dropped a little, it happens every season,” he said. “There are moments of form and then less form. Unfortunately, we had it at the end of the year.

“But I am sure, seeing how the team train, that we have found the right path again.”
