Multiple reports in Italy claim former Fiorentina boss and Juventus midfielder Paulo Sousa is ready to replace Davide Nicola at Salernitana.

La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia and TMW, among other sources, claim the Portuguese boss has reached an agreement with the Granata and is ready to replace Nicola at the Stadio Arechi.

Sky Sport claim Sousa is the favourite to take over at Salernitana, while Gazzetta and TMW report Sousa and Predident Danilo Iervolino have already shaken hands adding that the Granata will confirm Sousa’s arrival and Nicola’s sacking in the coming hours.

Sousa is expected to sign a contract until the end of the season with an option for a further campaign if he gains survival.

The Granata are currently out of the drop zone, four points above 18th-placed Hellas Verona.

Nicola had already been sacked by the Granata in January, but Iervolino changed his mind after just two days, having failed to reach an agreement with any potential replacement for the Italian tactician.

Salernitana have only earned four points in 2023, collecting one win, one draw and three defeats.
