Nerazzurri Coach Roberto Mancini has made no secret of his desire for a central midfielder, declaring that Liverpool’s Brazilian player Lucas Leiva could ‘help’.

According to Calciomercato the Beneamata are targeting Leiva’s compatriot Paulinho, who also plays in the Premier League, for Tottenham.

The 26-year-old has played just 110 minutes of Premier League football this term, being used primarily in the Europa League.

That would mean Paulinho would be ineligible for Inter’s campaign in the same competition but Calciomercato believes that the Spurs midfielder could still be an attractive option.

With Inter struggling to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations, the club’s sporting director Piero Ausilio is evaluating low-cost ways to improve the squad at Mancini’s disposal.

The website believes that Paulinho could move to San Siro on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, with a clause inserted in the deal tying Inter to a future fee.
