Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez has reportedly accepted a move to Real Betis, who are paying less than Napoli, but would guarantee a starting spot.

The shot-stopper was one of several on the wish-list to replace Pepe Reina, who is heading to Milan as a free agent this summer.

According to CalcioNapoli24.it, there was a meeting between Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Pau Lopez’s agent, Albert Botines, in Rome last month.

The shot-stopper was one of several on the wish-list to replace Pepe Reina, who is heading to Milan as a free agent this summer.

According to CalcioNapoli24.it, there was a meeting between Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Pau Lopez’s agent, Albert Botines, in Rome last month.

They even agreed personal terms and would pay more than Real Betis, but it seems as if the goalkeeper has accepted a transfer to a club where he is guaranteed the status of first choice.

A free agent at the end of the season, Pau Lopez is expected to sign a contract with Betis until June 2023.
