Former Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez is reportedly on the verge of a return to Serie A for newly-promoted Como, on loan with option to buy from Olympique Marseille.

The shot-stopper is 29 years old and wore the Giallorossi jersey from 2019 to 2021, when he moved to Marseille first on loan, then permanently for €12m.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Pau Lopez is on his way back to Italian soil this summer.

Como earned their promotion to Serie A by finishing second in the Serie B table and are hoping to attract big names thanks also to coach Cesc Fabregas.

It is expected to be a loan move for the Spanish goalkeeper with an option to buy at the end of the season.

The total cost of the operation should be in the region of €5-6m.

Como had also been linked with another goalkeeper, Emil Audero, who is still owned by Sampdoria and spent the last season on loan with Scudetto winners Inter.

Pau Lopez’s previous clubs include Espanyol, Real Betis and Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Como hosted Raphael Varane last week for several days and he is going to consider their proposal too.
