Milan have sensationally “interrupted” negotiations for Carlos Tevez after Alexandre Pato decided not to join PSG, confirmed Adriano Galliani.

The turnaround late this afternoon appears to have had a massive knock-on effect for the transfer strategies of Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

“Pato’s decision to stay at Milan is entirely personal,” said Rossoneri Vice-President Galliani to the ANSA news agency.

“At this moment the negotiations for Tevez have been interrupted. This is because of Pato’s decision.”

Galliani is in England for face-to-face talks with Manchester City, as the €35m from selling Pato to PSG was set to be used in order to sign Tevez.

Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo said as much during today’s Press conference to present new signing Maxwell.

“I am optimistic and believe the Pato deal will be completed over the weekend.”

However, Pato has wrong-footed everyone with his announcement on the official Milan website.
