“I feel great in Florence and Milan,” Passarella told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Everytime I go back there I feel at home. I often meet Lele Oriali in Milan while I catch up with Giancarlo Antognoni and Daniele Pradé in Florence.”

Did he ever suggest any signing to his former clubs?

“Yes I did, Martinez Quarta. I am happy Fiorentina signed him. I spoke to the guy and I told him Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. He is similar to me: fast, strong, he has everything. He will be an Argentina starter in the World Cup.”

Inter and Fiorentina meet at the Artemio Franchi this evening, what’s the first memory that comes to his mind?

“I had just joined Inter from Fiorentina. We won 1-0 in Florence and I scored the winner. Returning to the midfield I could not express my joy: it would have been a lack of respect for a city that had given me so much. But the funny thing came after the game.

"I returned to my apartment in Florence along with my family. A few Fiorentina fans had gathered around my car, looking badly at me.

“Nobody said anything and I tried to get into the car quickly. Then an old lady broke the silence: ‘Daniel! you, of all people…’”
