Mario Pasalic scored the opener against PSG in the Champions League quarter-final, but insists Atalanta ‘did all we possibly could’ in this heart-breaking 2-1 stoppage-time defeat.
La Dea were leading at the 89th minute, only to be overturned in stoppages by Marquinhos and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting tap-ins, when they were visibly exhausted and down to 10 men after Remo Freuler’s injury.

“It’s a pity, we were so close, but that’s the Champions League, teams with quality upfront can score two goals in two minutes,” Pasalic told Sky Sport Italia.
“The disappointment is there, so are regrets, but we want to look forward and be more prepared for the Champions League next season.
“We did all we possibly could, there’s no doubt about that, but these teams have so much individual quality that they can hurt you at any moment.
“I think we proved that we can fight it out with the strongest opponents and I hope we can do the same in the Champions League next season.”
