Marco Parolo has claimed “some luck would’ve helped” Lazio against Napoli at the San Paolo as the Biancocelesti were dumped out of the Coppa Italia.
It ended in a 1-0 defeat to Gennaro Gattuso’s men, but Parolo insisted that the Biancocelesti had given “everything” to go through.
Lorenzo Insigne scored the only goal of the game for Napoli and the Lazio midfielder admitted it was a “nice goal”.

“Today, we didn’t score. Napoli scored immediately, with a nice goal from Insigne and the match down the path they wanted,” Parolo told Rai Sport. “Maybe some luck would’ve helped us. We gave everything out there. We are disappointed about the elimination. It was important for us to show that we can play our game also here.
“We will have this spirit also in the derby.”
The defeat at the San Paolo was another hiccup in the cup competitions for Lazio, who were also eliminated from the group stage of the Europa League.
Parolo pointed out the resemblances between two crucial games against the Scottish champions in the European competition.
“The games against Celtic were similar to this one, we missed a lot of opportunities. This year we have been strong in the League and not in the cups. We are still developing,” he said. “The triumph in the Coppa Italia has given us awareness.
Parolo was not too downbeat after the loss and took some positives form the game and the season so far.
“The group knows each other well. We must take small steps. In six years here, we have always built something. In all the games we’ve lost, we have never stopped creating,” he said. “The draw with Atalanta was an important moment that unlocked us, brought out what we had. But we have shown our value since the start of the season.”
