The Aquile went out with a whimper after their 2-0 defeat to Stade Rennais, their fourth loss in six group games.
“We really lost our way with the two Celtic games,” Parolo told Lazio Style Channel.
“Considering how it all went, we deserved to be eliminated. If we pick up six points out of 18, then evidently something is very wrong.
“This was never going to be the turning point in Rennes. All we can do is hope this serves as a lesson in future. Unfortunately, we put in two very strong performances against Celtic and emerged empty-handed.”
Lazio can now focus all their attention on Serie A, as they are currently in third place and aiming for a Champions League spot.
“We must continue like this and do well on Monday against a physical and tough side like Cagliari. Now everyone is waiting for Lazio, they know how we play and we need to repeat the performance we put in to beat Juventus.”
