“Thiago Motta has so much experience that he can play anywhere and it’s really easy to play alongside him,” Lazio midfielder Parolo told Rai Sport.

“We held out really well against one of the best and most technical midfields in the world. They were missing a few players, but so were we.

“It’s a shame because we had the chances to win and really deserved a victory. It’s a good sign, as this team has a future and is finding its feet.

“When you have experience at the back, it’s only right to have those fresh legs and ideas in attack. The initial trident also did well and created plenty of scoring opportunities.

“We all feel the pride of wearing the Italy shirt intensely. From the start you could sense what Antonio Conte wanted and over time I have seen a team develop around certain concepts.

“He always urged us to become a team, so if we do that then we have players with the kind of quality that can turn a game.

“We have important players and a large squad to choose from, but if we play with this spirit at Euro 2016 then we can have our say.”
