Lega Serie A vice-President Adriano Galliani discusses the situation at Parma, saying there is no more the League can do.

The Ducali are in disarray, with several players having left over the January transfer window, and wages not being paid on time.

The club has until February 15 to pay wages or risk administration, and it emerged this morning that Rezart Taçi has sold the club, despite only taking over in December.

“I think the Italian League is the most efficient in Europe,” Galliani insisted outside a meeting to decide next season’s schedule.

“We have offered support. Thanks to a system of guarantees, when there were crashes with Parmalat, with Cirio, Italian football never lost a Euro.

“Any amount, in respect to other clubs is ensured by a guarantee. I don’t see how the system can protect against this [Parma] situation.

“There are clubs around Europe who have hundreds of millions of debt to the tax authorities and keep going.

“Here, to be registered, you have to offer guarantees on your purchases, you have to have everything in order. I don’t see what more the football system can do.

“To my knowledge, when a company fails it goes to the Confindustria [chamber of commerce]. I hope Parma won’t fail, but I don’t see what the association has to do with it.

“Let’s hope that Parma won’t fail.”
