New Parma owner Kyle Krause says he would like to ‘unearth another Fabio Cannavaro’ after completing his takeover of the club.

The Krause Group were announced as Parma’s new owners earlier today, and figurehead Kyle admits it is a dream come true for him as someone of Italian heritage.

“My interest in Italian football comes from the fact that my mother is Italian,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m an Italian American and I have a great passion for football. I saw an opportunity to get into football. I’d hoped and dreamt of owning a team in Italy.

“When the chance with Parma presented itself, one with a fantastic city and great history in the 90s, with incredible fans and a wonderful stadium, I jumped at it. It’s great to be part of this experience.

“The owners who bought Parma five years ago have done a fantastic job in bringing the team back to Serie A.

“At some point, they felt they had to pass the torch to let the club keep growing. The negotiations went smoothly thanks to my partners. I’m happy to be here.”

The tycoon was then asked about his family’s plans for the Gialloblu, who are preparing for their third straight season back in Serie A.

“We have to stay in Serie A, we’re not thinking about relegation. I‘ll collaborate with some extraordinary people who have been here for a long time.

“I’ll talk to them to plan the growth of this team, strengthening the academy to develop players who can play in the first team.

“We have a new coach, a new President and a new sporting director. We have to learn hand in hand with the team.

“I tell the fans to be patient, I still have to learn. It was great meeting them.”

Cannavaro [pictured] was one of several stars who rose to prominence with Parma in the 1990s, so does Krause foresee another top defensive prospect coming through at the Tardini?

“It would be wonderful to be able to bring top players back to Parma. I’d like to review the squad in 10 years’ time and see how much they’ve come on.

“I hope to unearth another Cannavaro, nurtured in our colours.”
