There is bad news for Parma, as striker Mateusz Kowalski will be out for six to eight months after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
It is a devastating blow for the 19-year-old, who sustained the serious injury while on international duty with the Poland Under-20 squad.
Tests showed it was the worst case scenario, the complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Surgery was performed today in Parma by Professor Paolo Adravanti and Kowalski is expected to be out of action for at least six to eight months.
Kowalski a loss for Parma
He joined Parma for €1m plus bonuses in January 2023 and was promoted full-time to the senior squad this summer after promotion to Serie A.
The forward made two appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season, starting the 2-1 loss to Napoli.
It has been a decent start to the campaign for Fabio Pecchia’s side, who picked up four points in their opening three Serie A games.
