The town’s football club are facing bankruptcy, with a court hearing scheduled for March 19. President Giampietro Manenti is still insistent that he can pay debts, but Federico Pizzarotti is skeptical after a meeting on Friday.

“Since his arrival, the current owner has not done anything concrete,” the mayor told Calciomercato.

“There have been a lot of words, but nothing substantial.

“I’ve already stated publicly that Mr Manenti is not credible, nor is he the right man to safeguard the interests of Parma, which for its history and what it represents to [the town of] Parma deserves better.

“In the past few days several parties who are interested in Parma have come forward, but I don’t want to say too much at the moment.

“At the moment my only interest and commitment is to see the club back in safe hands, with concrete facts offered, not just words.

“We’ll see in the next few days, because the court deadline is approaching.”
