Parma have distanced themselves from suggestions that they could net Antonio Cassano from Inter this summer.

The 30-year-old is being linked with a San Siro exit despite the fact that he will potentially be bossed by Walter Mazzarri in 2013-14, his former Coach at Sampdoria.

Amongst the clubs being associated with the Italian international are Parma.

“Cassano? That would be like talking about us qualifying for the Champions League,” Gialloblu transfer chief Pietro Leonardi told TV Parma.

“Perhaps we’ll now sign Barcelona’s Lionel Messi instead…”

The Bari-native joined the Beneamata last summer in a swap deal which saw Giampaolo Pazzini move to Milan.

Cassano, eight goals in 28 League games, is only contracted to the San Siro giants until June 2014.
