Parma have brought back their iconic yellow and blue hoops for this season’s away shirt.

The Ducali won both the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup in the 1998-99 season, with a team featuring the likes of Gianluigi Buffon, Hernan Crespo, Lilian Thuram and Fabio Cannavaro.

The home kit that year was yellow and blue in reference to owners Parmalat, but when the dairy company went bankrupt and took the club with it, the traditional Crociata kit returned.

The home shirts for this year are white with the black cross on the front, but today Parma have confirmed the away ones will be a tribute to those iconic kits from 20 years ago.

“The kit with the yellow and blue hoops that was born 20 years ago and proudly worn by Parma across Italy and Europe and then again adopted by the reborn club on the journey back up from Serie D to Serie A will officially be Parma Calcio’s second kit in the 2018/19 season,” the Ducali announced on their official website.

“Inspired by the 1990s, the Away Kit is distinctive in style with its thick yellow and blue hoops and a unique V-neck collar with round lines.

“On show across Serie A stadiums and in European competition during the 1998/99 season, the hooped Gialloblu shirt was also worn in the season after, which evidently inspired this version from Erreà for the 2018/19 season with the wider blue stripe on the chest.

“Clean-cut, the hoops also feature an almost invisible dotted pattern around the sides to add movement to the design and enhance the fit and wearability. The matching shorts are yellow or blue with a contrasting stripe down the sides and on the rear.”
