Parma’s sporting director confirms he tried to sign Mario Balotelli, and won’t totally rule out a return for Antonio Cassano.

The Ducali are back in Serie A three years after they went bankrupt and had to be refounded in Serie D.

This summer saw them linked with a shock move for Super Mario, and it appears that was more than just speculation.

“We have to do what we can with our finances,” sporting director Daniele Faggiano explained to RMC Sport.

This summer saw them linked with a shock move for Super Mario, and it appears that was more than just speculation.

“We have to do what we can with our finances,” sporting director Daniele Faggiano explained to RMC Sport.

“There are certain figures we can’t work with. I tried to sign him [Balotelli], I talked a little bit with everyone but then I ran away.”

Antonio Cassano is looking to make a comeback after two years out of the game, and Faggiano didn’t entirely rule that out.

“It’s hard, we’re evaluating different profiles. At the moment it’s more no than yes.

“We’re working, we still need to complete the squad. We knew as a newly-promoted team it wouldn’t be easy, but Parma still has a certain charm.

“We’ll work with a lot of loans.”
