Parma administrators say the team should see out the Serie A season and potential new owners can bid from May.
Angelo Anedda and Alberto Guiotto took charge on Thursday after the club was declared bankrupt with debts of €218.4m, including sporting debts worth €74.3m.
Today the two administrators held a Press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against Torino.
“The final aim of this administration period is to put the club up for sale and allow buyers to register for the next football season,” explained Anedda.
“Before doing that, we are called to verify if this can actually happen. The administration period must not create further damage to creditors.”
The Lega Serie A – representing all 20 top flight clubs – agreed a bailout package worth €5m to allow Parma to finish the season.
“By April 15 we will refer to the creditors whether Parma can complete the season. We are optimistic, but we will see,” added Guiotto.
“We have to work out if running costs from now to the end of the season will be higher or lower than €5m. If it’s superior to €5m, then either we’ll try to increment that with sponsors – who we are already in contact with – or ask those we work with to reduce costs.
“If none of that occurs, then we’ll have to tell the Tribunal that the club does not have the necessary conditions to continue. Having said that, we are optimistic.
“This morning we began the process of assessing the value of the club. We will consider other recuperation strategies for the creditors aimed at those who caused the club to go bankrupt. That could include suing for damages.
“We met with the team yesterday and explained our role. They had a positive attitude towards us.”
“A full stadium from here to the end of the season would clearly allow both the team to play with more enthusiasm and for us to bring in more funds.”
If a new buyer does take over Parma, they must be able to cover the €74m sporting debts before being allowed to register for the new season.
“The intention is to hold the first auction for the club around May 15. It’s true €74m is a large figure, but it could be reduced via transactions. It is in the interests of the creditors to lower that sum.”
