Leandro Paredes reveals he nearly joined Juventus, lined up to become Andrea Pirlo’s heir, but made ‘a mistake’ in backing out.

The current Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is no stranger to Serie A, having already played for Empoli and Roma.

He could’ve joined another Serie A side even earlier, as he told Argentine newspaper Ole.

“When Juventus came in to buy me in 2011, the director of sport wanted me to play as a midfield playmaker, sort of the understudy to Pirlo,” said Paredes.

“I told him he was crazy. In the end, I stayed at Boca. I thought at the time that I would never play that kind of midfield role, but that was a mistake.”
