Argentina international Leandro Paredes confessed thinking ‘I was going to die’ when him and Juan Iturbe were involved in a car accident during their time at Roma.

The South American duo were returning from a concert with their wives when they decided to run a red light and the Paris Saint-Germain player reveals ‘only chance’ saved him and his wife from ‘tragedy’.

“I thought about dying, just by chance it didn’t become a tragedy,” Paredes told TyC Sports. “Me, Iturbe and [Diego] Perotti had brought our wives to a concert in Ozuna, each with their own car.

“We were going home, it was late and there was no one in the street. At a red light we decided to pass, as the road was deserted, but just when I was about to cross, I see a car passing and coming towards me.

“I tried to brake; I threw myself all the way to the right but behind me I had Iturbe in his SUV. I had a small car, at that moment I though it would crush me.

“I thought I was going to die. In an attempt to dodge Iturbe, I ended up on two wheels! My wife was in rage when she got out, she told us we were crazy. By chance, it didn’t turn out to be a tragic accident."
