This is not just a head-to-head for the top four, but also the very future of the clubs, who would find it absolutely disastrous to miss out on Champions League football.

“A decade is an eternity in football. This is an important match, there are another two after that, so nothing will be decided tonight one way or the other, but it is important,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s not just Donnarumma, the transfer market lasts all year round now, especially for the media. We are accustomed to the constant gossip over many different players, it’s just right now it’s Donnarumma.”

Paratici was asked outright if Donnarumma is a target for Juventus.

“Donnarumma is a very good player, he belongs to Milan and tonight we are concentrated on the match.

“We have always made the decisions together with the President, with Pavel Nedved, with the directors. We discuss between ourselves and when a decision is made, it is shared by everyone.”

There have also been suggestions Paratici could be on his way out at Juventus.

“We are all very focused on tonight’s game. We ask our players to ignore transfer gossip and we have to do the same ourselves. My contract has been running down in previous years, it has never been a problem and will never be a problem.”
