“We have always said that we have a very competitive squad and the coach tries to make the most of the various options at his disposal,” Paratici told Rai Sport of six changes from the weekend’s 2-1 win over Parma.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world, so logically his presence is important for his teammates, for the fans and for the opponents too, I believe. We try to make the most of his influence on the game.”

The January transfer window is open and Paratici was asked about reports Pjaca is heading to Cagliari on loan with option to buy.

“We are very close to an agreement. He is doing well in his training sessions and we’re happy that he has found an important club like Cagliari where he can get the opportunity to play.

“It will be an 18-month loan with option to buy.”

Multiple reports state Cagliari will pay €1.5m for the 18-month loan and have a further €12m option to buy from June 2021.
