Juve crashed out at this stage last season, losing to Olympique Lyonnais, another club that was considered a relatively ‘easy’ draw.

“It’s not that we weren’t concentrated against Lyon, and we probably didn’t deserve to lose. The details make the difference at this level and we are ready to fight it out with Porto,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.

The Bianconeri went out on away goals, having lost 1-0 in France and won 2-1 in Turin.

Leonardo Bonucci and Paulo Dybala are on the bench, but coach Andrea Pirlo has already said they are not fit to play.

“It has been an unlucky season, Dybala scored almost 100 years for Juve, so of course he is a very important player for us. He’s in the squad, although not at his best, but we have many games left this season and he can still make a crucial contribution.”

Dejan Kulusevski was chosen rather than Alvaro Morata this evening, partly because the Spain international is not fully fit.

“Fitness problems are to be expected, as it is out 14th game in I think 43 days, so naturally knocks or muscular issues can lead to players having to pull out. It’s basically like playing half a season in a month-and-a-half."
