New details emerge about a notebook belonging to Juventus director Federico Cherubini who allegedly blamed his predecessor Fabio Paratici for the costly Dejan Kulusevski deal and for ‘destroying a generation’ of young footballers.
The notebook is part of a variety of documents seized by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office in the investigation involving 16 Juventus directors for alleged false accounting and false communication to the market.
Cherubini had used the notebook for an internal meeting regarding the club’s poor finances and was found by Italy’s Guardia Di Finanza at the club’s headquarters.
The Bianconeri director – who formally replaced Fabio Paratici in 2021 – appears to accused his predecessor of making excessive use of capital gains to balance the books.
New details are emerging in today’s edition of La Repubblica newspaper.
According to the report, Cherubini was very critical of Paratici’s work at the Allianz Stadium and repeatedly blamed him in his notebook.
He allegedly accused Paratici of often being late for meetings which he sometimes held in the sauna, at the barber shop or during his podiatry appointments.
Cherubini wrote that capital gains made by Paratici would give the club ‘immediate benefit’ becoming a financial burden long-term.
“Judgements and assessments change every day,” wrote Cherubini, according to the report.
“The recovery plan is disastrous, but how did we get to this point?” he asked.
“Nonsense signings, beyond reach (Kulusevski?).”
Cherubini also accused Paratici of “destroying a generation: Kean, Spinazzola Audero…”
Paratici signed Kulusevski at Juventus in 2020 for €44m and reunited with the Sweden international for a similar fee this past January when the ex-Atalanta winger joined Tottenham.
Paratici spent 11 years at Juventus before moving to North London in the summer of 2021.
