“Diego sent him a beautiful message last year: 'You have given so much to football, thank you', remembering the times of the ‘82 World Cup,” Federica Cappelletti told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Paolo cried like a little child when I told him of Diego’s passing,” she added.
“When the ashes will return home. We will make a ceremony in Prato, where the stadium will be called after him.
“Perugia will do the same with their youth sector. People are calling us from all over Italy to name stadiums, stadiums sectors and squares after Paolo. The wave of affection from all over the world has overwhelmed. I expected it, but not so much."
Rossi’s wife also revealed he the former Vicenza, Juventus and Milan striker never turned down Napoli during his playing career.
“He never did it, he always told me he would have loved to play with the Azzurri but with a competitive team. He wanted to win.
“Ferlaino could not guarantee to build a big team and the choice was different, but he was always disappointed that the Neapolitans thought that he had rejected Napoli.”
