Goran Pandev admits he hasn’t quite decided whether he’s going to retire this summer after bagging a brace in Genoa’s 2-1 win over Napoli.

The veteran is 37 years old and has said he’ll retire after he plays with Macedonia in the postponed Euro 2020 tournament. Will the brace against his old club change his mind?

“I struggled a lot to recover from my last injury, but I am still enjoying myself and feel good. We’ll see,” he told DAZN.

“I struggled a lot to recover from my last injury, but I am still enjoying myself and feel good. We’ll see,” he told DAZN.

“My thoughts are to retire after the Euros, but we don’t know anything yet for sure.”

Pandev scored his first Serie A brace since 2013, when it was for Napoli, and therefore didn’t celebrate against his former team.

“I spent three wonderful years at Napoli. They are a great team, but had a lot of injuries and it’s not easy when you have COVID cases. I am confident they’ll get back on track this season.”

As for Genoa, they are transformed under Davide Ballardini with 17 points from eight Serie A games.

“These are three very important points, because we are not safe yet. The coach brought a sense of calm to the team, made us aware of our capabilities. Obviously, it all becomes easier when you start getting good results, but this squad has quality and the coach is getting the best out of us.”
