Some newspapers claim Samuel Eto’o refused to sit on the Sampdoria bench against Genoa, but Angelo Palombo denies this.
Eto’o interrupted training early on Friday due to a muscular problem and Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic waited until Saturday morning to announce his squad for the Genoa Derby.
The Cameroon international was included, but ended up in the stands for the game – which was eventually rained off and rescheduled for Tuesday at 17.30 GMT.

Secolo XIX newspaper today claims Eto’o was fully fit and refused to take a spot on the bench, infuriating Mihajlovic.
“No, that’s not true,” insisted captain Palombo on Sky Sport Italia.
“Eto’o simply had a muscular problem and the Coach thought it best not to risk him getting injured further.”
