The contractual situation of the Giallorossi captain has been a controversial issue in recent months, with speculation that the club will not offer him a deal to continue his playing career.

Now, speaking after the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, the American patron confirms that there’s a difference in opinion between club and captain.

“The situation with Francesco is really hard,” Pallotta told reporters, as reported by Roma News.

“I’d like him to become part of the management, but he’d prefer to continue playing. The captain said he was interested in going to play in Miami, but they don’t [yet] have a team in MLS.

“He could be interested in moving to New York though.”

Pallotta also explained the reasoning behind the dismissal of Coach Rudi Garcia earlier this year.

“The problem with Garcia was that he always used the same tactic and didn’t follow the analytical data.”
