Rumours emerged after the 2-0 home defeat to Udinese that Fonseca was up for discussion, even with suggestions Luciano Spalletti could return for a third stint at the Stadio Olimpico.

Pallotta took the rare step this afternoon of publicly denouncing the reports in the newspapers, taking to Twitter in order to make a statement.

The Giallorossi are not only 15 points adrift of Atalanta and fourth place, but Napoli and Milan are now coming up behind them in the race for fifth position.
