Pallotta aims for a ‘global’ Roma

Roma President James Pallotta has insisted that the capital club can become  one of the biggest sports brands in the world.

The American investor took over at the Giallorossi in 2011, and has since seen the team return to the Champions League places under Coach Rudi Garcia.

Off the pitch as well, things have been a success, with deals being struck with Volkswagen, Nike and Disney.

And the businessman is confident that his team can go on to become a global sporting leader.

“A lot of the operational and marketing things that you might take for granted with teams in the United States just weren’t being done in Europe,” he told Forbes magazine.

“From a controller, financial and cost side, there were things that hadn’t been done much in terms of sponsorship and shirt deals.

“But Roma is going to be the global sports brand.”

One of Pallotta’s main ambitions is to build a new stadium, with plans being revealed earlier this year.

“Roma has the opportunity to be one of the top three or five sports brands in the world.

“There is no question that is our goal. We need to get things done like getting a new stadium.

“When we have our new stadium, that will increase the revenue side of the business.”
