Raffaele Palladino seemingly taunted José Mourinho following Roma’s 4-1 win over Monza saying that Daniele De Rossi has ‘freed’ the Giallorossi.

Roma secured their sixth victory in seven Serie A matches under De Rossi on Saturday, beating Monza 4-1 at the U-Power Stadium.

Palladino and De Rossi are close friends as they followed the same coaching course at Coverciano but the Monza tactician also had a few arguments with DDR’s predecessor Mourinho during the Portuguese’s reign at the Stadio Olimpico.

Palladino congratulated De Rossi after Roma’s 4-1 win on Saturday but also appeared to taunt Mou during a post-match interview with DAZN.

“The cub [Roma] have made a wise choice. I have always wished De Rossi would become the Roma coach,” Palladino said as quoted by Tuttosport.

“He has freed this team; he has given the players the freedom to move. He has quality and this makes a difference. He also has formidable players and you can see his ideas. I am happy for Daniele, but not for tonight’s result.”

Palladino argued Monza didn’t deserve a heavy defeat against the Giallorossi but still congratulated Roma and De Rossi after the game.

Monza have collected eight points in the last five matches. They sit 11th in the Serie A table with 36 points in 27 games. The Brianzoli are six points below 7th-placed Fiorentina after Saturday’s home defeat to Roma.
