The Rosanero are looking for a new left-back after Italian international Balzaretti joined Roma earlier this month.

Peluso, who last night won his first Azzurri cap, has been paired but President Maurizio Zamparini insists he won’t be arriving.

“Peluso is an excellent player and we like him, but he costs too much,” Zamparini told Radio Marte. “His valuation is too high and that saw our interest in him fall.”

Palermo will start the Serie A campaign against Napoli, but the suspension of Goran Pandev is seen as a negative rather than a positive.

“I fear Lorenzo Insigne more than I do Pandev,” the Stadio Barbera chief noted. “He’ll be really motivated to do well.”

The Sicilian outfit have again made some substantial changes this summer and Zamparini is making no promises.

“We’ll have to find out what our objective is week after week,” he added. “We have a Coach in Giuseppe Sannino who will last a long time here.”

Palermo went through three tacticians last term.

Peluso has also been paired with Juventus, Napoli and Manchester City.
