Palermo unveil new badge

Palermo have unveiled their new, ‘more aggressive’ badge and plans to return to Serie A ‘in three years’.

The consortium led by Dario Mirri and Tony Di Piazza won the tender to relaunch Palermo in Serie D after they were expelled from the second tier for financial irregularities.

“I’m certain that after so much suffering, we have an opportunity to write beautiful pages in our history,” Mirri told reporters.

“We’ll change our badge so that it’ll have a more aggressive eagle, which witnesses our ambition of reaching Serie A in three years.”

The new badge [pictured, below] also includes just the name ‘Palermo’, omitting the ‘US Citta di’ prefix, and loses the shield.

Instead, the eagle becomes the focus and is both pink and black, representing the club’s colours.

Parma embarked on a similar path following their demotion to Serie D in 2015, regaining their top-flight status just three years later.
