Palermo players have been training at Manchester City’s training ground for four days and their president joked that Rosanero striker Matteo Brunori is ‘better than Erling Haaland.’

The Serie A side have travelled to England for four days of training at Manchester City’s training ground Etihad Campus.

Last summer, Palermo became the first Italian club acquired by The Citizens’ owner City group. The Rosanero, one of the most iconic Italian clubs in the last 20 years, were promoted from Serie C last season and have collected seven points in six Serie B games so far.

“You have everything to do real football here, starting from the massive gym,” Palermo striker Francesco Di Mariano told Sky Sport.

“It’s a word I struggle to describe because if you don’t live it, it’s hard to understand.”

Dino Mirri has remained in charge as Palermo’s President following the takeover from City Group and joined the team in England.

“To me, Brunori is better than Haaland,” he told Sky Sport smiling.

“Anyone wearing the Palermo shirt, either Brunori, Crivello or Doda, is better than anyone else. The kit makes the difference.”

Brunori, a former Juventus U23 striker, was instrumental to Palermo’s promotion to Serie B last season with 29 goals in 45 Serie C games.

The 27-year-old joined the Rosanero permanently in the summer and has scored six goals in eight appearances across all competitions this term.
