Goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino is pleased by his team's Coppa Italia win and confirms Palermo will keep 'integrating young players'.

The Rosanero edged past Avellino 2-1 yesterday evening, reassuring fans after the shock exits of Bologna and Empoli to Serie B sides Pavia and Vicenza.

“We knew it wouldn't be easy,” said Sorrentino. “We started out on the right foot and we're pleased about this result.

“We knew it wouldn't be easy,” said Sorrentino. “We started out on the right foot and we're pleased about this result.

“Avellino are one of the best teams in Serie B but we took few risks. The result reflects what we saw on the pitch.

“Winning helps you win, so we'll keep integrating our young players.

“Other than that, we'll try winning every game.”

The 36-year-old was also asked to send a message to Palermo's supporters.

“We promised we'd give it our all today, now we're expecting you at the stadium for Palermo-Genoa!” he said, in reference to the Rosanero's first Serie A game.

“[Andrea] Belotti? He played a great match today. Should he leave, our President will have something ready to make sure we don't miss him too much.

“[Franco] Vazquez is our extra value. When he's having the right day, we all benefit from it.”
