Guillermo Barros Schelotto is officially Palermo’s third Coach of the season, marking Enzo Maresca’s return to the squad.

Schelotto’s appointment comes as no surprise after President Maurizio Zamparini confirmed he would join yesterday, and he follows Beppe Iachini and Davide Ballardini on the Rosanero bench this season.

Zamparini also announced yesterday that he is ‘working with lawyers’ to terminate Ballardini’s contract.

“Guillermo Barros Schelotto is the new Coach of Palermo,” read a statement on the club’s official website last night.

“The Argentine will be assisted by Fabio Viviani, who began to take first team training during the week. The rest of the coaching staff will be announced in the next few days.”

Schelotto joins following three seasons in charge of Argentine side Lanus and this will be the first European job of his career.

The club announced today that the change of Coach will see Enzo Maresca return to availability, after the midfielder was frozen out under Davide Ballardini.

“On the decision of President Maurizio Zamparini, starting from today Enzo Maresca will return to the availability of the technical staff guided by Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Fabio Viviani,” read a statement of the club website.
