Palermo have bizarrely published a fan’s criticism of the team on their official website.
The Rosanero have had a tumultuous season, even by their standards, with a raft of changes on the bench and President Maurizio Zamparini claiming the players “care only about money”.
Now an open letter to the President has been posted on the club’s official website, bemoaning the departure of Coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
“Dear President, I heard your interview on Sky a few days ago,” the letter begins.
“Unfortunately, after the last three games with only one point taken, our chances have significantly deteriorated.
“We fans are worried, because we’re staring down the tunnel which will take us to Serie B if them doesn’t change its attitude on the pitch from passive to active.
“In practical terms that means we should attack more. Carpi and Frosinone are inferior on paper, but they’re teams that run and attack and fight to win.”
The fan then lists the win percentages of the five men to have sat on the bench this season, with current Coach Beppe Iachini returning after being sacked.
“Dear President, the only one who got the team playing was Schelotto, who unfortunately went to Boca in Argentina.
“If the team doesn’t change its attitude on the pitch to the one we had with Schelotto, we’ll be in Serie B.
“Remember: MATHS IS NOT AN OPINION.
“Enzo Mazzola, Rosanero fan.”
There is no official comment or response from the club or Zamparini on the website, simply the letter in its entirety.
However, the words do mirror those of the President, who has criticised the players for their effort, and bemoaned Schelotto’s departure.
